Sage Family Tree

This family tree information has been prepared for general viewing and excludes information about living people. It has been compiled from family sources, available transcripts of census and registration data, and from the primary documents. Data sources relating to individuals are listed, but copies and transcripts are not included.

I will be very glad to receive additions and corrections to the information noted here, by email.

Health warning: I believe the information on these pages to be largely correct, but although some information is well checked, some is speculative or hearsay. Before you devote years of effort to research on the basis of what you read here, drop me an email and I'll happily tell you how certain any particular statement may be.

How to navigate the information

For most people, the easiest way to use the information will be to find a name you recognise in the menu list to the left. Click on any name and a page will appear giving information on that person. Other names are links: click on any name to change to the page describing that person.

At the bottom of the page for most people, there is a list of information sources. Transcripts and scans are not included in this release of the family tree; you will need to contact me if you want details of what is written.

Near the top of each page, is a link to an ancestry chart for that person. Clicking this will give a graphical view of that person's direct ancestors and descendants in a different tab of window. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to switch to a different tab in order to view it. For each person, the name and dates are given.

In the Ancestry Chart view, clicking on the dates of any person in the chart will switch to a chart centred on that person. Clicking on their name will change the information page to relate to that person. This will usually not be visible! Depending on your browser settings you have to move to the window or tab holding the information page to see it.

A convenient way to find ancestors is to start from someone whose name you recognise. Then go to the tree view to see the family relationships and click on different names to see details about other individuals.
